For more than 70 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue (BGCB) has been a cornerstone of the Bellevue community. With 18 Clubhouses across the city, we offer safe, supportive spaces for thousands of youth outside school hours. As our programs expand, so does the need to connect families, donors, and community partners in the life-changing opportunities we provide.

Position Summary

The Philanthropy Officer plays a critical role in advancing our mission by building and managing relationships with individual donors and prospects who contribute $10,000 and above. This position is ideal for a fundraiser with 3–5 years of experience eager to deepen their expertise in major gifts and to grow within a mission-driven organization.

In this role, the Philanthropy Officer will cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of donors and prospective donors, creating meaningful engagement opportunities that directly connect supporters to the impact of our programs, ensuring thousands of Bellevue youth have safe, supportive spaces to thrive. Β They will help expand and strengthen the pipeline of future major donors, contribute to designing stewardship strategies, and ensure donor data is managed with accuracy and care in Salesforce.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Donor Portfolio Management

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of approximately 75–100 individual donors and prospects capable of giving $10,000+ annually.
  • Develop and implement tailored cultivation strategies to deepen relationships and inspire increased giving.
  • Conduct regular donor outreach through meetings, calls, emails, and personalized stewardship.
  • Identify and qualify new prospects through research, referrals, and events.

Solicitation & Revenue Generation

  • Partner with senior development staff to design and execute solicitation strategies, including annual, multi-year, and special project gifts.
  • Participate in donor meetings and presentations, often in collaboration with leadership or board members.
  • Contribute to revenue goals by closing gifts and advancing the growth of the major gifts program.

Stewardship & Engagement

  • Create and implement individualized stewardship plans to ensure donors feel connected, appreciated, and informed.
  • Help design donor experiences such as tours, events, and briefings to showcase impact and build loyalty.
  • Ensure all stewardship activities strengthen the donor’s relationship with the organization and highlight the tangible impact of their support on BGCB youth and families.

Data & Systems Management

  • Maintain timely, accurate records of donor interactions and engagement strategies in Salesforce.
  • Support data integrity efforts and champion best practices in data hygiene.
  • Leverage data insights to inform portfolio strategy and measure progress toward goals.

These responsibilities do not fully encapsulate the scope of the role. You may be asked to perform duties not listed. On occasion, you may be asked to cover at different sites to maintain staff-to-youth ratios.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 3–5 years of professional experience in nonprofit fundraising.
  • Demonstrated experience cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual donors, ideally at the $10,000+ level.
  • Proven ability to design and implement personalized engagement strategies and move prospects through a pipeline.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM platforms and a strong commitment to data quality.
  • Strategic, goal-oriented, and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple relationships and priorities.
  • Passion for the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue and a desire to help donors make a meaningful impact.
