The purpose of this job is to carry out the mission of the American Psychological Association β βto promote the advancement, communication, and application of psychological science and knowledge to the benefit society and improve livesβby advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility at APA. Under the direction of the Chief Diversity Officer, the Deputy Chief Diversity Officer (Deputy Chief) is responsible for providing strategic leadership, managing and operationalizing APAβs goal to integrate EDI across the organization and within the field of psychology.
This role manages APAβs overall EDI strategy and supervises a team responsible for the implementation, dissemination, and evaluation of APAβs EDI strategy and long-term coordinated plan to dismantle systemic inequities.
This role is also expected to coordinate with APA staff (including, but not limited to HR, SWEO, OGC, etc.) to determine how best to identify priorities and coordinate organizational support particularly with efforts that promote an equitable, diverse, and inclusive work environment within APA staff and the association. The Deputy Chief will champion thought leadership, innovation, and excellence to build innovative models that may serve as exemplars for using EDI principles as foundational to fostering psychologically healthy workplaces.
This role is time-limited position with an end date of December 31, 2025.
