Position: Full time, Exempt

Salary range: $140,000 - $150,000 (commensurate with experience)

Job Purpose: Β  To generate growth of philanthropic (high net worth) circle of donors and raise funds for the HALO Trust (USA) Inc. to ensure that the HALO Trust meets its ambitious income targets to carry out its mission globally. This role has an individual fundraising target of $6 million/annually and a 5-10% growth for consecutive years. Cultivates, solicits, and writes donor proposals for current and prospective high net worth donors, their foundations and family offices. Leads on the cultivation of new donor relationships, recruitment of new ambassador council philanthropic giving members, supports the legacy giving conversations, and organizes salons-style events for direct fundraising and new prospect referrals

Key Responsibilities:

  • With support from the Head of U.S. Philanthropy to lead on the development and delivery of income plan for major and principal gifts, relationship strategies for key major donor accounts, focusing on the strategic development of relationships and reaching annual ambitious income goals.
  • Personally cultivates at least 50 key high- value donor account relationships, providing excellence in stewardship, donor investment proposals, renewals, and identifying donor investment opportunities.
  • Responsible to personally secure $6 million annually toward a multi-million-dollar team portfolio and 5%-10% growth in the consecutive years.
  • Develops and manages a portfolio of prospective accounts, through the various cultivation phases and ultimately securing new funding in line with HALO’s strategic funding priorities and US prospect list and manages the prospect list and referrals.
  • Makes a minimum of 100 personal visits to potential and current donors annually.
  • Ensures that every constituent’s Salesforce profile is up to date in respect to all written and verbal communications, solicitations, agreements and stewardship related activities.
  • Understands HALO’s values and articulates those values in conversation, writing and personal demeanor.
  • Leads on the development and project management of Major and Principal Gifts activities for donors and friends of HALO across the philanthropy team and wider organization, including a few special events.
  • Support key senior HALO staff, ambassadors, and trustees to lead relationships with individuals linked to the agreed relationships.
  • Manages donor engagement and income plans year to year.Β 
  • Work with HALO Leadership on the recruitment of new HALO Philanthropic Ambassadors.
  • Develop Ambassador announcement, and fundraising plans and created and executes on salon-style special events in key donor and convener markets (e.g. NY, LA, Seattle, Toronto, etc).
  • Host high value donors in field visits to HALO operations for impact.
  • Work closely with colleagues in the UK and overseas programs as part of a distributed team which provide support to the US high value fundraising efforts.
  • Responsible to oversee and manage Associate(s).
  • Oversees the delivery of the individual giving targets, with oversight of donor management and stewardship of mid and high-level accounts through the line management of junior staff.


Requirements

Essential Qualities

  • 18+ years' experience of personally cultivating successful relationships with U/HNW and high-value accounts, particularly those giving at the six or seven-figure level.
  • Experience in securing and overseeing a multi-million-dollar new income portfolio.
  • Significant experience in working/communicating with CEOs, high-value clients, and boards of Trustees, and in building positive and effective relationships.
  • Significant experience in the delivery of high-value and creative special fundraising/cultivation events.
  • An excellent communicator with the ability to build relationships with staff and colleagues in different cultural environments.
  • Confident in working with financial information including budgets.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills including the ability to demonstrate tact, sophistication, and gravitas.Β 
  • Experience in working with a fundraising database to maximize relationship development.
  • A commitment to HALO’s mission and objectives.Β Β 
  • Strong intellectual curiosity and the ability to articulate HALO’s various programmes and strategies in a compelling way.
  • Tenacious, self-starting, and able to thrive in a fluid, entrepreneurial context.
  • Collaborative, team player, with a good sense of humour and a low ego.Β Β 
  • Outstanding project management skills.

Desirable Qualities

  • Experience in high-value fundraising in higher education, prominent institutions, and /or international humanitarian space.
  • Experience in pipeline development in major key US markets and/or Canada.

The HALO Trust USA employee benefits for full-time employees include:

Vacation Time: 25 days (5 weeks) paid vacation (PTO) accrued at 16.667 hours per month.

Sick Leave: 5 days (1 week) paid Sick-Leave. Sick Leave cannot be β€˜carried-over’ to the next year.

Holidays: HALO USA observes all USA Federal holidays

Savings Plan: A 401(k)-retirement savings plan is offered to our employees, but managed entirely through our Payroll provider, Insperity. HALO USA will β€˜match’ up to 5% of an employee’s contributed monthly savings to their 401(k) account.
