Job Summary
The Government Relations Manager serves as a strategic internal advisor responsible for integrating public policy intelligence into BKVβs operational and enterprise decision-making. This role ensures legislative, regulatory, and policy developments are proactively monitored, analyzed, and translated into actionable business guidance that protects and advances BKVβs upstream, power, and CCUS businesses.
The position partners closely with Leadership, Legal, Finance, Operations, Commercial, and Development teams to align evolving federal and state policy landscapes with capital allocation, project development, permitting strategy, compliance planning, M&A activity, and long-term corporate strategy.
While supporting targeted external engagement with policymakers, regulators, and industry groups, the primary emphasis of this role is coordination, regulatory risk management, and forward-looking strategic advisory.
This role operates with a high degree of professional judgment and discretion, balancing long-term strategic planning with real-time policy monitoring and internal advisory responsibilities. The position requires strong analytical capability, business acumen, and alignment with BKVβs core values: teamwork, accountability, grit, and adaptability.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement government relations strategies that support BKVβs business objectives and operational priorities at the local, state, and federal levels. Align advocacy efforts with corporate goals and community impact initiatives.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on federal and state legislation, regulatory, and policy developments that may impact BKVβs operations. Proactively identify risks and opportunities and provide timely, actionable insights to internal stakeholders.
- Partner with legal, communications, upstream/midstream operations, power, CCUS EHSR, and leadership teams to assess policy impacts, develop positions, and coordinate responses to proposed legislation, regulations, and agency actions. Provide guidance on government processes and compliance considerations.
- Support advocacy efforts, including preparation of position papers, testimony, comment letters, talking points, and briefing materials. Coordinate internal and external responses to emerging public policy issues.
- Represent BKV with industry groups, coalitions, and trade associations, as needed. Participate in working groups and committees, collaborate on shared policy priorities, and help align industry advocacy with company interests.
- Collaborate with the communications team to ensure consistent, accurate, and on-brand messaging related to public policy, regulatory matters, and government engagement. Support crisis communications and public affairs strategies as needed.
- Support political engagement activities, including tracking contributions, events, and outreach in accordance with company policy and applicable regulations. Coordinate community-facing government initiatives that strengthen BKVβs reputation and relationships.
- Maintain tracking of government contacts, legislative activity, advocacy efforts, and outcomes. Prepare regular reports and updates for leadership on government relations activities and policy developments.
- Manage budgets and track political engagement activities in accordance with company policy and applicable regulations. Support planning, scheduling, and documentation for meetings, events, and advocacy initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of legislative, regulatory, and governmental processes at the local, state, and federal level, with the ability to assess policy impacts on business operations.
- Interest in and working knowledge of the energy industry, including natural gas, CCUS, power generation, regulatory frameworks, and public policy issues relevant to BKVβs closed-loop strategy and operational footprint.
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with elected officials, regulators, agency staff, industry peers, and internal stakeholders through professional, credible, and transparent engagement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex policy positions, draft advocacy materials, and present information to diverse audiences, including leadership and public officials.
- Ability to think strategically, anticipate issues, and exercise sound judgment in dynamic or politically sensitive situations. Capable of balancing business objectives, public interest considerations, and reputational risk.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across legal, communications, operations, and executive teams to align policy positions and advocacy efforts.
- Ability to analyze legislation, regulations, and policy proposals; identify risks and opportunities; and develop practical, solutions-oriented recommendations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams and SharePoint; experience tracking legislative activity, contacts, and advocacy efforts is preferred.

Education & Experience
Required
- Bachelorβs degree required. Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of specific degree focus.
- Typically requires a minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience.
Preferred
Background in political science, public policy, government relations, communications, or a related field preferred.

- This position is based in the BKV Office in Fort Worth, Texas.
- Some travel (up to 30%) may be required.
