One80 Place is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Nonprofit Accountant to support core accounting operations within our mission-driven nonprofit organization. Β This role plays an important part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting grant compliance, and contributing to efficient month-end close processes.Β
The Nonprofit Accountant will work closely with the CFO and finance team members to strengthen internal controls, improve workflow efficiency, and ensure financial operations run smoothly.Β

Status: Full-time, Regular, Exempt
Β Accounts Payable & Expense Management:Β
- Manage the Expense Management email inbox. Β
- Support the review and processing of AP invoices for proper coding and documentation. Β
- Assist with weekly check runs and check printing. Β
- Assist with ACH vendor setup and maintenance. Β
- Maintain vendor records and W-9 documentation. Β
- Prepare and process annual 1099 filings. Β
- Assist with recurring vendor payments and bank drafts. Β
- Maintain prepaid schedules and related reconciliations. Β
- Assist with expense allocations (e.g., Verizon, gas cards, shared costs). Β
Journal Entries & Month-End Close:Β
- Prepare journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation. Β
- Process cash receipts journal entries. Β
- Post monthly recurring journal entries. Β
- Assist with account reconciliations. Β
- Support timely and accurate month-end close processes. Β Β Β
Grants & Compliance Support:Β
- Support grant accounting and tracking. Β
- Support grant reporting and reimbursement documentation. Β
- Cross-train on complex federal and state grants, and other funding streams for continuity coverage. Β
- Assist with audit preparation and financial documentation. Β
- Provide backup coverage for critical finance functions. Β
- Cross-training is an important component of this role to ensure continuity, maintain strong internal controls, and support effective PTO coverage across the department. Β
Internal Controls & Process Improvement:Β
- Support appropriate segregation of duties to enhance accuracy and reduce risk. Β
- Improve documentation and workflow clarity. Β
- Assist in development and updating of accounting procedures and SOPs. Β
- Participate in system and process improvements. Β
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and strengthen controls. Β
Required Qualifications: Β
- Bachelorβs degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- 2β5 years of accounting experience.
- Experience with account reconciliations and month-end close processes.
- Strong understanding of GAAP fundamentals. Β
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Β
- High attention to detail and accuracy. Β
- Strong organizational and communication skills. Β
Preferred Qualifications: Β
- Nonprofit accounting experience. Β
- Experience with grant accounting (HUD, ESG, GPD, SSVF, and other federal funds). Β
- Experience with Financial Edge NXT or similar accounting system. Β
- Experience supporting financial audits and preparing audit documentation.
- Experience working with restricted funds and fund accounting.
- Curious and eager to understand the βwhyβ behind accounting processes. Β
