RESPONSIBILITIESΒ 

Direct Care:Β 

  • Administers or prescribes treatmentsΒ 
  • Discusses potential side effects to medications and/or immunizations with patientsΒ 
  • Promotes health by advising patients about diet, hygiene, and methods for disease preventionΒ 
  • Refers patients to medical specialists for consultant services for their well-being, as neededΒ 
  • Follows up with patients regarding progress in high risk or emergency casesΒ 
  • Conducts physical examinations to provide information needed for admission to schools, consideration for jobs, or eligibility for insurance coverageΒ 

Provider and Team Support:Β 

  • Shares accountability for overall patient health outcomes by working in coordination with care teamsΒ 
  • Operates to instill confidence in our care and in our facilities to patients, fellow employees, and other stakeholdersΒ 
  • Assesses training needs and promotes developmental activities of medical staffΒ 

Transgender Patient Care:Β 

  • Provides competent and culturally sensitive primary care services to patientsΒ 
  • Offers hormone therapy management, including prescribing and monitoring hormone regimensΒ 
  • Addresses and manages the physical, emotional, and mental health needs of transgender individualsΒ 
  • Conducts assessments for gender affirming surgeries and facilitate appropriate referrals, as neededΒ 
  • Works with the behavioral health team by assisting with gender identity exploration and provides support throughout the transitioning processΒ 

HIV Patient CareΒ 

  • Offers specialized care to patients living with HIV, including antiretroviral therapy management.Β 
  • Monitors disease progression, immune statuses, and potential complications related to HIVΒ 
  • Provides counseling and education on adherence to treatment plans and preventative measuresΒ 
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement comprehensive care plansΒ 

Clinical Administration:Β 

  • Reviews patient files/records, including allergies, problems, medications, and immunization statusΒ 
  • Elicits and records information about patient medical historyΒ 
  • Examines patients for symptoms or physical informationΒ 
  • Orders and executes various test, analyses, and diagnostic images to provideΒ 
  • information on patient’s conditionΒ 
  • Analyzes reports and findings of tests, examinations, and diagnoses to understand the patient’s current conditionΒ 
  • Determines and prescribes patient medications, dosages and schedules dependent on their conditions and allergiesΒ 
  • Prescribes and administers vaccinations to immunize patient from communicable diseasesΒ 
  • Documents patient visits, including medical history, physical exam, diagnoses, and plan of actionΒ 
  • Stays informed of organizational activities and promote mission and goalsΒ 
  • Reviews and responds to all forms of communication, such as emails, postal mail, voice mailsΒ 
  • Functions at highest level according to credentials and competencyΒ 
  • Impacts patient experience by demonstrating courteous and helpful behavior and a commitment to accuracyΒ

  • Maintains professional working relationships with all levels of staff, clients, and the publicΒ 
  • Cooperates in accomplishing department goals and objectivesΒ 

Β 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCEΒ 

  • Doctorate in medicine requiredΒ 
  • Valid CA Medical license in good standing requiredΒ 
  • Valid DEA and CPR certifications requiredΒ 
  • WPATH Training requiredΒ 
  • AAHIVS HIV Specialist Certification requiredΒ 
  • Experience working with transgender patients and/or those living with HIV preferredΒ

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including superior composition, typing and proofreading skillsΒ 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formΒ 
  • Knowledgeable about and experience with providing direct care to patientsΒ 
  • Ability to commit to diversity/inclusion and providing patient centered, non-discriminatory and culturally competent careΒ 
  • Knowledgeable about and experience with unique healthcare needs and challenges faced by transgender individuals and those living with HIVΒ 
  • Knowledgeable about and experience with gender affirming care and HIV treatment protocolsΒ 
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyΒ Β 
  • Excellent planning and organizational abilityΒ 
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independentlyΒ 
  • Ability to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical mannerΒ Β

Β 

Pay Range: $229,100-$384,900 per year, depending on experience.
