Responsibilities Include:
Scheduling and Project Management (30%)
The Production Coordinator assists the Production Manager and Producers with managing incoming project requests and the projects schedules.
Notifies relevant parties of approaching deadlines and helps to keep all projects on track, including updating schedules, the project tracker, and other relevant documents.
Assists Production Manager in creating and implementing new workflows to optimize communication and productivity.
Logistical Support (40%)
Under the supervision of the Production Manager, the Production Coordinator assists in coordinating the pre-production, field shoots, and post-production phases of a media project.
Support meeting planning, new staff or contractor set up, and contract status tracking.
During pre-production, this person helps build call sheets, secure media permits, coordinates logistics, and partners with Associate Producer to make travel arrangements for crew and manage equipment needs
During production and post-production, Production Coordinator tracks deliverables status throughout production and aids Production Manager in compiling required deliverables, partners with the Associate Producer to help pull stock footage and create Legal Binders.
Tracks and compiles final deliverables.
Budgeting and Accounting (15%)
The Production Coordinator works with Production Manager and Producers to track the costs associated with each project budget, updating estimates, submitting invoices and other expenses, and making sure that the project stays within the approved budget.
Contract Management (15%)
Assist Production Manager in creating and tracking status of contracts, including gathering information for license out agreements and Independent Contractors.

Educational Background
Bachelorβs degree preferred
Minimum Years of Experience
2+ years of experience in a Production office environment, preferably with large shoots, and documentary film production
Knowledge and Skills Required
Solid understanding of the processes and workflows of media production.
Strong attention to detail and ability to appropriately prioritize tasks.
While in-depth technical skills are not required, the successful candidate must be familiar with all aspects of production in order to communicate effectively with the team.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, as well as the Google Office suite.
The Production Coordinator must be able to communicate effectively, prioritize tasks, and work well as a part of a team, with ownership over some independent tasks.

The salary range for this position accounts for a wide range of factors including but not limited to organizational need; specific skill sets; experience and training; certifications; and more. At the National Geographic Society, individuals are typically hired at or near the starting point of the salary range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

Job Designation
Hybrid - At the Society, we believe in the advantages of coming together to build community, mentor and learn from colleagues, and connect more deeply with our mission. As a result, the majority of our staff are Hybrid. Our Hybrid category requires that staff work at Base Camp two days each week: every Tuesday and Wednesday. Hybrid staff are also always welcome to come in additional days each week if preferred.Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
