Job Summary:
The City of South Bend's Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Intern to assist with outreach and supplier diversity initiatives. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the City’s procurement processes and community engagement efforts. The Intern will support various outreach activities, contribute to the development of supplier diversity programs, and assist with the coordination of events aimed at increasing participation of Minority and Women Business Enterprises (MBE/WBEs) in city contracts.

Key Responsibilities:
-Supplier Diversity Support:
- Assist in identifying and engaging potential M/WBEs for City procurement opportunities.
- Support the organization and execution of workshops, webinars, and training sessions focused on supplier diversity.
- Help maintain and update the supplier diversity database and track engagement metrics.
- Assist in the development of educational materials and resources for M/WBEs.

Outreach Activities:
- Collaborate with the ODCI team to plan and implement outreach strategies to increase awareness of the City's diversity initiatives.
- Attend community events, trade shows, and networking functions to promote the City’s supplier diversity programs.
- Assist in the creation and distribution of marketing and promotional materials for outreach campaigns.
- Support the development of communication plans to engage diverse businesses and community partners.

Administrative Support:
- Provide administrative assistance for meetings, including scheduling, preparing agendas, and taking minutes.
- Assist with data entry, report generation, and analysis of supplier diversity program outcomes.
- Support the coordination of the annual Supplier Diversity Summit and other key events.

Research and Analysis:
- Conduct research on best practices in supplier diversity and outreach within municipal government.
- Assist in analyzing data related to M/WBE participation and help identify areas for improvement.
- Support the preparation of reports and presentations on diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, preferably in Public Administration, Business, Communications, Marketing or a related field.
- Strong interest in diversity, equity, and inclusion, particularly in the context of public procurement and community engagement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with event planning or community outreach is a plus.
