Position Summary:
The Philanthropy & Special Events Officer plays a crucial role in advancing the Development Department's revenue goals by cultivating donor relationships and executing successful fundraising events. This dynamic position requires a results-oriented individual with a passion for philanthropy and a knack for creating memorable experiences. The Officer will work closely with the Director of Development and other department leaders to develop and implement strategies that increase philanthropic support and enhance community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
路 Philanthropy:
o Cultivate and manage relationships with current and prospective donors, building a strong pipeline of support.
o Develop and execute targeted fundraising campaigns, including annual appeals, major gifts, and planned giving initiatives.
o Prepare and present compelling proposals and presentations to potential donors.
o Maintain accurate donor records and ensure timely acknowledgment of gifts.
o Research and identify new funding opportunities from individuals, foundations, and corporations.
路 Special Events:
o Plan, coordinate, and execute a variety of fundraising events, including galas, dinners, and outdoor activities.
o Manage all aspects of event logistics, including venue selection, catering, entertainment, and marketing.
o Develop and manage event budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and maximizing revenue.
o Recruit and manage event volunteers and committees.
o Evaluate event success and provide recommendations for future improvements.
o Work with the marketing department to promote events.
路 Collaboration and Reporting:
o Collaborate with the Director of Development and other department leaders to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals.
o Prepare regular reports on fundraising progress and event outcomes.
o Represent Scouting America, Orange County Council at community events and networking opportunities.
o Assist with the creation of mailers, and other donor communication.
Qualifications:
路 Bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred)
路 Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fundraising and/or event planning, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
路 Proven track record of successful fundraising and event management.
路 Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.1
路 Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
路 Proficiency in donor management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
路 Passion for the mission of Scouting America and a commitment to youth development.
路 Ability to work nights and weekends as needed for events.
