Job Description

The Division of Earth and Ecosystem Sciences (DEES) is seeking a dedicated, temporary full-time Program Specialist I to handle a variety of financial and administrative duties. Under the Business Manager’s supervision, the Program Specialist I will operate using sound judgement, discretion, and use initiative in a variety of administrative, fiscal, and planning activities. Responsibilities include processing purchasing card transactions and invoices, coordinating division events and meetings, and assisting with other administrative duties, as needed.

The Program Specialist I will assist the Business Managers, Division Director, and faculty, as needed, with various tasks such as distributing mail, assisting with division inventory tracking, and generating and providing personnel reporting to the Division Business Managers and Division Director. This position is located in Reno, NV.

Key Job Duties:

  • Monitor and order divisional supplies and project related supplies as needed

  • Coordinate with faculty, HR, and Division Business Managers to ensure proper paperwork is completed and procedures are followed to bring visitors and volunteers to campus

  • Assist Division Director with correspondence and scheduling

  • Coordinate SPOT and parking pass checkout

  • Input and coordinate IT and Facilities tickets to assist division admin staff and faculty

  • Serve as backup for other division program specialists in processing timesheets and expense reimbursements

  • Assist faculty with administrative questions

  • Distribute monthly reports to faculty

  • Assist with completing personnel reports for division and HR as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience

  • Basic skills with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Basic experience with Adobe Acrobat

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field

  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Experience working in an office environment

  • Basic experience with Workday or similar information system

Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to sit for long periods of time and lift, push, and or pull objects weighing up to 20 lbs.

Compensation Grade/Benefits

This is a DRI (temporary) Technologist position, Grade 29, with a minimum starting annual salary of $49,722. Starting salary is commensurate with experience and education and alignment with similar public academic-research institutions.

DRI offers a benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, and life insurance (flexible spending and health savings account options available); PERS 19.25% retirement match, 10 hours of annual leave and 10 hours of sick leave accrued per month, and 12 paid holidays Additionally, there is no state income tax or social security deduction.
